Rhode Island Red Japanese Maple Tree (Acer palmatum)

Rhode Island Red Japanese Maple Tree is an outstanding dwarf with a semi-upright habit. This tree boasts of very dense, compact branching, which yields a round-to-oval shape. It has mid-size, palmate leaves which emerge a bright red in the spring. This foliage darkens to a deep burgundy-maroon for the summer. Then in the fall this foliage matures to a fiery orange. As the leaves drop in late fall, Rhode Island Red shows off its dark red stems. These red stems add dramatic color all throughout the winter months!

They prefer partial shade to protect them from the hot afternoon sun, as too much sun can scorch their leaves. Japanese Maples love well-drained and slightly acidic soil.
