Coneflowers (Echinacea) are a native perennial that grows wild in the prairies of western US. They get their name from the distinctly cone-shaped flowers in Summer. The plants of today are shorter and better branched compared to their wild cousins. They also have much brighter flower colors. Coneflowers prefer well-drained soil.
