Wildfire Black Gum Tree (Nyssa sylvatica)

The Wildfire Black Gum Tree is a very adaptable medium-sized shade tree. It is one of the trees that gives the Appalachian Valleys their beautiful orange-red, maroon fall color. While it commonly grows in wet lowlands, it can also tolerate dry rocky ridges. It is hardy, easy-to-grow, and has few pests. Wildfire Black Gum is unique in that it has reddish new growth in the Spring.

Black Gum Trees are beautiful native trees, growing in eastern United States. Our newer varieties of Black Gum have a symmetrical structure. Next most important is their lovely fall color. They are easy-to-grow and are a long-lived tree. Black Gum prefer moist, well-drained, acidic soil.
