Exclamation!™ Sycamore/London Plane Tree (‘Platanus x acerifolia ‘Morton Circle’)

Exclamation!™ Sycamore/London Plane Tree is a large shade tree. Exclamation!™ London Plane Tree is often mistaken for its parent, the American Sycamore. Several unique identification features make Exclamation!™ London Plane Tree different. It is known for its camouflage appearance, the outer bark peels in large flakes to reveal a mottled pattern of cream, olive, light green, and gray inner bark. It produces spherical, bristly seed balls, hanging in pairs from long stalks. Its leaves are large (6-10″ wide), thick, and leathery with 3-5 pointed lobes. Exclamation!™ London Plane Tree is not only beautiful, but also tolerates almost any soil condition.

London Plane/Sycamore Trees are beautiful, shade trees developed as a cross between the American Sycamore and the Oriental Plane. Their shedding of their outer layer of bark makes them similar to the American Sycamore. They are fast-growing, providing ample shade during hot summer months. They are widely used in urban areas, as they have high tolerance for air pollution, drought, and poor soil. London Plane Trees are an easy-to-grow and long-lived tree.
