Product Description

Scarlet Fire® Kousa Dogwood Tree (Cornus kousa)

Scarlet Fire® Kousa Dogwood Tree is a cultivar that is highly resistant to dogwood anthracnose and powdery mildew. Its large, 4-5″ bracts are considered to have the darkest, most vibrant color of any Kousa dogwood! Above its dark green foliage, Scarlet Fire® produces dramatic, dark pink and fuchsia bracts that last 6-8 weeks in April and May. In late summer this tree produces red berries, which the birds and squirrels love. Scarlet Fire®, true to its name, turns a scarlet-red for fall!

Kousa Dogwood Trees

There is a difference between Kousa Dogwood and Dogwood. Kousa produce leaves first and then bracts, but Dogwood produce flowers first and then leaves. Kousa have vibrant fall foliage as well. They tolerate full sun, but love partial or dappled shade. They thrive in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. They require consistent moisture and are not drought-tolerant. If you need to prune them, do so immediately after flowering. Kousa are compact trees, looking their best near patios or entries and at the edge of woodland areas.

About Trees from Nolt’s Garden Center

We specialize in top quality trees for sale at our plant nursery in Lebanon PA. Our tree nursery has a huge selection of ornamental, flowering, & shade trees. Most of our trees are grown in potting soil which makes them lighter and easier to plant than trees that are grown in a field and dug. Our trees also start growing faster since their roots are not damaged by the digging.
