Onyx and Pearls Penstemon is named after two opposite colors: onyx refers to the dark, black foliage and pearl refers to the lavender flowers with white interiors. So, Onyx and Pearls got its name very honestly. These light flowers appear in midsummer contrasting sharply with its dark foliage.
Penstemon (Beardtongue) are drought and humidity tolerant perennials. They are very easy-to-grow and are rarely bothered by insects or diseases. Plant Penstemon in full sun and watch them thrive. Hummingbirds love Penstemon’s trumpet-like flowers.
