Allegheny Viburnum is a versatile, large shrub. In late spring it produces creamy-white fragrant flowers. These flowers are followed by bright red berries maturing to a glossy black in the fall. Allegheny has leathery, wrinkled, dark green leaves with a silvery, fuzzy underside. This foliage changes into a lovely burgundy-red in the fall. If you want to prune this bush, do so after its finished flowering. For best flower and berry production Allegheny needs a pollinator. Give this drought-tolerant bush full sun and well-drained soil to watch it thrive!
Viburnum have fragrant spring flowers, colorful summer berries, and lovely fall foliage. They thrive in full or part sun, but full sun produces best flowering and berries. They also prefer well-drained, slightly acidic soil. These versatile, hardy shrubs are low-maintenance and usually do not need pruning. Viburnum are usually fast-growing, making them an excellent choice for privacy screens, hedges, or as a foundational plant.
