Sweet Bay Magnolia Tree (Magnolia virginiana)

Sweet Bay Magnolia Tree is celebrated for its distinct lemon-scented, white flowers. These elegant, cup-shaped flowers, reaching 2-3 inches wide, appear in the late spring. Following these flowers cone-shaped, dark red fruit develop. They split open to expose bright scarlet, fleshy seeds an excellent source of food for songbirds. Sweet Bay has glossy, green leaves with striking silvery undersides, maturing to yellow in the fall. It is a more slow-growing, compact tree that thrives in full or partial sun. It loves rich, moist, well-drained soil. Sweet Bay is a great native choice for novice or experienced gardeners!
