Eastern Red Cedar is a hardy, evergreen conifer, appearing as a dense, conical tree with aromatic, reddish bark. Its needle-like, blue-green foliage matures to bronze in the fall. Female trees produce small blue juniper berries in the fall making it a unique greenery for winter, or a crucial food supply for animals. Eastern Red Cedar is low maintenance, naturally growing into a pyramidal shape. It is exceptionally tough, tolerating most any type of soil.
Juniper (Juniperus) are prized for their year-round foliage color! They are also known for being very adaptable to different soil conditions. They have needle-like foliage and in the fall produce berry-like seed cones. Juniper rarely need pruning, but you can give them a fresh shape in the spring. These shrubs thrive in full sun and well-drained soil. They look excellent planted on banks, along walkways, in rock gardens, or in containers.
