Skylands

Bold, but not gaudy, Skylands Spruce adds year-round color to a garden. Its fine, spiky needles emerge electric yellow in spring, softening to a rich golden color. This elegant gold stands out against the dark green, interior foliage. When Skylands is a mature tree, it produces pinkish long cones in the spring. It has the most intense color in full sun, although protection from the scorching sun may be needed while the bush is young. It prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Spruce (Picea) are low-maintenance and easy-to-grow. They are compact and dense, so generally do not need pruning. Their needle-like foliage makes them look stately planted in landscapes or as a privacy screen. These shrubs thrive in full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
